What to do 
First: Consult the information provided by the Doctoral Office

Follow the instructions of the doctoral office of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences

 
Second: GSfBS registration & submission of the doctoral supervision agreement within three months after starting the doctoral project

Each doctoral candidate chooses a thesis advisory committee (TAC) consisting of the supervisor and two further scientists independent of the supervisor, called mentors. We recommend that one mentor is from a field closely related to the doctoral research project and the other from a different field but with complementary expertise. One of the mentors can be an independent group leader.

The TAC composition is announced to the graduate school administration in the context of the supervision agreement in the following way:

Every doctoral candidate at the University of Cologne needs to have a supervision agreement. The supervision agreement includes a section where the TAC members are entered. 
Doctoral candidates, who want to be members of the GSfBS, please use this form for a 
preparatory conversation before filling and signing the 
supervision agreement with your advisor and send it to 

isabell.witt(at)uni-koeln.de (last names starting with A - L) or 
katerina.vlantis(at)uni-koeln.de (last names sarting with M - Z)

Please note that the GSfBS only accepts the doctoral supervision agreement provided above or the doctoral supervision agreement of the Faculty for Mathematics and Natural Sciences. 
The template “Supervision Agreement” (Muster Betreuungsvereinbarung) from the Albertus Magnus Center (available in German through the website of the Albertus Magnus Center as well as in Docfile) is not accepted.
